Making changes one step at a time.

How cooking with the Instant Pot has been building my confidence.

Have you ever heard of an Instant Pot? Untill recently I hadn’t.  This device has improved our quality of life!

I love to eat, but honestly, I don’t enjoy cooking. I’ve always been one of those people who needs a recipe to follow.  Some people are blessed with the knack of being able to throw ingredients into a pot using a pinch of this and a pinch of that.  Not me, I need step by step directions.

Being able to prepare dinner for my family is something that I have lacked in. After working all day and fighting with kids about homework, who wants to come home and cook? I often found myself saying I’ll just pick something up or have something delivered. This is an area of my life where I have been able to make small changes, which has helped me make progress towards lifting my confidence as a mother and a wife.

I recently stumbled upon an amazing new kitchen appliance, the Instant Pot. This device has transformed my attitude when it comes to cooking.  With very little effort, fewer dishes, and in less time I able to prepare dinner for my family after a long day at work and an hour in the gym!  Instant Pot

In no way am I affiliated with this company, but I tell you the truth when I say it has changed my life!  Now, I’m not going to lie, I was a little intimidated by this device the first few times I used it.  Now, we have renamed it in our house and call it the “magic pot”.  You’re probably wondering how this has impacted my level of confidence, right? Now, I am cooking for family on an almost nightly basis, which in turn is saving us money, and the best part is, it is helping to save my waist line!

9 Ways Exercise Can Improve Low Self-Esteem

Are you one of millions of ladies out there who suffer from low self-esteem? I am. I’m like most females; I’ve spent many years suffering from low self-esteem, ashamed of the way I looked. I decided to do something about it and joined a gym. Below are some tips on how to get started on a better you!

Making time for the gym isn’t always easy. In fact, I’ve found getting there is the hardest part. Once I’m there and the workout begins I am so glad I went.  I’m fortunate enough to have an awesome gym with trainers running classes, watching us to correct our form, and “yelling” at us to keep us motivated and moving. I like to say I have a love/hate relationship with my trainers, but seriously though, they kick my tail.

Now, I know you all aren’t fortunate enough to have a gym like mine close by, so I’m going to give you nine basic getting started pointers for now that anyone can do and come back later with specific exercises you can do to help yourself.

exercise improve self-esteem weight loss

1) My first tip is show up. Put your shoes on and go.  NO EXCUSES! If you don’t have a gym close by, get you one of those workout videos, because some movement is better than no movement.

2) Tip two is set yourself a time frame and stick to it.  It is so easy to quit early in your workout, DON’T! If you quit your exercise early you are only cheating on yourself.  If you decide on 45 minutes but after minutes 15 you are tired, DON’T QUIT-KEEP GOING-PUSH THROUGH IT! At the end you can look back and think about what you’ve accomplished-celebrate! This will improve your self-esteem!

3) Third tip for improving your low self-esteem, aim to get in four or five workouts a week; the kind that gets your heart rate going and your blood pumping.  Once or twice a week is a start, but that is not enough.

4) Fourth, don’t think of exercise as a punishment for what you have eaten, this will lead you to dread your workouts. Instead tell yourself “I get to workout today!”

5) Tip five, treat yourself to some cute workout clothes.  We all like to look cute, right?

6) The sixth tip is to drink  water, water, water. Drink water! Water is your friend. Don’t forget your water.  If you are not well hydrated you will feel sluggish during your workout, and well, see tip 2 about that.

7) Tip seven is to alternate muscle groups on your workout days. Focus on one muscle group each time you workout. Feeling sore is okay. Remember, there is a difference between sore muscles and hurting muscles.

8) After you workout you need protein! Protein helps repair and grow the muscles you just worked out! Here are a few of my favorite protein shakes recipes.

9) Finally, don’t deprive yourself of your favorite foods, this may cause you to binge eat. Allow yourself small occasional treats. You deserve it!

Remember you didn’t come this far, only to come this far.

How is getting active and starting an exercise routine going to help with your self-esteem? When you exercise your body releases endorphins and you get a feeling called a “runner’s high”, making you feel better about yourself and what you’ve just accomplished.

6 Ways to Boost Your Natural Energy Level

Looking for a way to boost your natural energy level? Are you one of millions of people who wake up tired? Don’t feel as if you can catch a break and feel rested? Constantly reaching for an energy drink or the candy bowl? Here I present to you 6 ways to effectively boost your natural energy level and help you beat the fatigue and get moving again!

boost your natural energy level

1) Increase your energy levels by cutting back on your sugar intake. Sugar causes your insulin levels to spike; which is followed by the big crash 😴we all dread.  Check your food labels carefully, manufacturers are getting tricky and are good at hiding sugars. Eliminating extra sugars can boost your natural energy levels!

2) Go to the gym. Wait, why would you want to go to the gym if you don’t have any energy? Simple, exercising strengthens your circulation and your heart muscle, which will naturally boost your energy levels!

3) Looking for supplements to increase your energy level?  Do you try energy drinks or extra coffeess? Look no further! Have you experienced an afternoon crash 😴 or the uncomfortable jitters and shakes 😬 that accompany a caffeine overload! I say NO thank you 🚫🚫 to the extra caffeine. But, when you are constantly on the go and need a little extra something to help give you that “edge” to finish the day strong, where else can you turn?  ⚡️ Edge is next generation clean energy that helps you power up more NATURALLY! It has clinically tested ingredients and a patent pending formula THIS IS HUGE🙌🏻  So where does all this great energy come from? You know I got an answer for that…

  1. Theacrine- which is naturally occurring in a tea leaf, non-habit forming, mood enhancing and boosts dopamine levels.

  2. L- theanine- which is an amino acid from green tea leaves that helps with focus and memory.

  3. Natural caffeine from a coffee bean (only 90mg of caffeine)

4) Drink your water.  Increasing your water is probably the easiest way to boost your natural energy level! Dehydration can lead to a feeling of fatigue. The next time you go to grab a soda, grab water instead.  The more water you drink, the more alert you’ll feel!  A good guideline to follow is to drink half your weight in ounces. So, if you weigh 180 pounds you’ll need to drink 90 ounces of water, just over six of those 16 ounce water bottles.

5) Breathe deeply. If you are stressed out this can cause rapid breathing; this rapid breathing decreases your oxygen supply to your brain, which in turn, makes you feel tired. Next time you are feeling stressed, stop and take some deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.  These calm and controlled deep breaths will give your energy level the boost it needs.

6) I found this awesome watermelon flavored drink mix that contains green coffee bean extract, Chromium Polynicotinate, and Garcinia cambogia fruit extract.  I bet you’ve heard about the benefits of the green coffee bean extract, but what about the Chromium and the Garcinia cambogia fruit extract? Are you wondering what they are and why do you need them? Let’s start with the one you’ve heard of, green coffee bean extract.  This amazing little bean has a high level of chlorogenic acid, which is a phytochemical that acts as a alpha-glucosidase inhibitor, this helps keep our glucose levels consistent all day long and provides clean, natural energy. ⚡️ No jitters, no shakes, no crash!

So, what about the Chromium Polynicotinate?  Well, Chromium Polynicotinate is an essential trace mineral that transports glucose into cells. Chromium prevents spikes in our glucose levels that can bring on strong sweets and carb cravings. As an added bonus, this helpful mineral will help you build 💪🏻 muscle; building muscle helps promote the burning of unneeded body fat, which in turn, helps normalize cholesterol levels.

The third ingredient, Garcinia cambogia fruit extract helps inhibit the formation of fat (it is a fat-blocker). 🙅🏼 It helps the body convert carbohydrates to glycogen, which is an energy source for your muscles. Garcinia cambogia also helps to decrease ⬇️ cravings and emotional eating by increasing ⬆️ serotonin levels in your brain. This is win-win for your body!

How can you get all three of these bundled together into a delicious watermelon flavored drink mix? Combine this drink mix, Slim with cold water and you’re all set.

Slim is a natural and safe way to effectively boost your energy level!
