Instant Pot Steal Cut Oatmeal
Making oatmeal can’t get any easier and this is a true “dump and go” Instant Pot meal. I like to get my oatmeal started and then go wake up the rest of my family. While they are getting ready for school I can get ready for work and we all meet together for a hot filling breakfast. The method I use takes only 30 minutes and this includes time for the Instant Pot to pressurize and to release pressure. Even better, oatmeal is customizable for your picky eaters by adding individual toppings once it’s prepared.
Doesn’t this look so good!
Directions for Instant Pot Oatmeal
Put water in pot and then dump in steel cut oatmeal without stirring.
Add sweetener of your choice (I use maple syrup).
Lock lid into place and set Instant Pot on manual for 6 minutes.
Allow NPR (natural pressure release) for 10 minutes.
Your Instant Pot Oatmeal is now ready to enjoy!
Ingredients for Instant Pot Oatmeal
4 1/2 cups water
2 cups steel cut oats
2 tablespoons maple syrup
Tips for Instant Pot Oatmeal
♦When you first open the lid, the oatmeal will look watery. That is normal. Give it a quick stir and you are good to go! This is what you might see.
♦After I do NPR I remove the inner pot from the heat source to help prevent the oatmeal from sticking to the pot.
♦I only use 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and can barely taste the sweetness. You should adjust to your preferences.
♦I have started writing the ratios and cooking times right on the oatmeal container so I don’t have to search through my recipe book. This is very helpful for early mornings.
